Established in 1934 as the United Kingdom’s official organisation for cultural relations the British Council has been active in Hungary since 1963 building connections, understanding and trust between the people of the UK and Hungary. Over the years our goal remained to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between our two countries through cultural engagement.
We do that connecting people through Arts and Culture, Education, Youth engagement addressing global challenges such as climate change and active citizenship and of course promoting the English language via Teaching and Exams.
I joined the British Council Hungary team as Country Director in December 2022 from the British Embassy Budapest where I have worked in Communications and Public Diplomacy for almost two decades. I am thrilled to carry on promoting ‘UK Plc’ from the education and cultural aspect. Working closely together with the British Council in my previous roles I have personally seen the organisation go through significant change but the shared UK values such as Equality, Diversity and Inclusion were always upheld and continue to be at the heart of all our activities both within and outside the British Council.
