Martin Parr, British photographer is one of the best-known representatives of European contemporary colour photography, whose work was on show in Hungary for the first time in 2020. A tireless chronicler of the present, for more than four decades he has been exploring the phenomena of everyday life, from the British perception of the weather, the ideal home, or shopping and entertainment habits, to capturing the national character. The exhibition Life’s a Beach was the opening exhibition of the sixth edition of the Budapest Photo Festival in 2020. Organised by BPF and Műcsarnok and supported by the British Council, more than 10,000 people visited the exhibition and almost 1,000 students participated in workshops and guided tours in the exhibition.

Arts, especially visual arts, communicate with us through a universal language. By introducing the best of British talent to Hungary, we enable intercultural connections, thereby fostering mutual understanding and dialogue.
