This free workshop will involve a range of exciting activities based on the themes of some of the Bard’s most well-known plays, King Lear in particular. It will introduce the Royal Shakespeare Company and British Council Shakespeare Lives Schools’ Pack, and there will also be a session on using drama techniques to teach Shakespeare in the classroom.
The overall aim is to explore how to familiarise English language students with the plays of the Bard while also creating rich language learning experiences in the classroom. Participants will leave with a full lesson plan based on the demonstration lesson and will also be able to experience some teaching activities based on the Schools’ Pack for themselves.
Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided during the event.

Act 2: World Café Get to know the resource material the British Council and the Royal Shakespeare Company has created to celebrate Shakespeare as a writer who still speaks for all people and addresses big questions and themes about the human experience. Get inspiration to engage your students with some of the key issues, themes and ideas in Shakespeare’s plays by moving from table to table to discover the chapters of the pack. |
